- The European Commission put forward a proposal for an anti-discrimination directive, which would include disability, in July 2008. http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?langId=en&catId=89&newsId=373&furtherNews=yes
Follow this link to find out more about what is proposed. The European Parliament is looking at the proposal at the moment so that it can make a recommendation to the European Council. EDbN has been feeding into this process.

- 1st April 2004, a historic day: The Written Declaration on the rights of deafblind people was formally adopted by the European Parliament. The declaration was adopted with 323 signatures, which was more than half of all the 626 MEPs. Have a look to: Lucy Drescher report: "Europe recognises deafblindness as a distinct disability"
- March 2003. London meeting. EDbN Reconstitution. The EDbN remains as an organization that involves professionals, families and deafblind people at a European level but in the future the key will be to work with and provide opportunities for networking for parents.
